Joseph’s Quiet Obedience

The Father's generosity is not limited to earthly good things but extends to the giving to us of the Holy Spirit Himself. There is no second blessing, for the Spirit's coming is part of the one great blessing heralded by the gospel given to all who trust in Christ. Luke's wording reminds us that the Spirit is both the gift and the means through which the Father answers prayer. Obedience, as seen in Joseph's silent faithfulness, proves more valuable than words or status, for God's purposes unfold through Joseph's immediate and humble trust evidenced in simple obedience.

How Disciples Are Made

Making disciples is not a two-step process of evangelism followed by teaching; rather, it is a single, powerful act of delivering and teaching the Gospel. The true biblical method for making a disciple is to 'gospelise' them, for the Gospel itself possesses the power of God to both convert a person and turn them into a learner of Christ. The very same message that brings salvation is also the message that strengthens believers, builds them up in the faith, and equips them to endure, demonstrating that the Gospel is the beginning, middle, and end of our journey with Him. When you have led someone to Christ, do not leave them to struggle on in their own strength, but teach them with encouragement to understand that they have not only received forgiveness and a conversion experience but also are the recipients of the Holy Spirit whom they need to learn to walk with for the power to live the Christian life. Salvation is from faith to faith. We needed faith to trust in Christ for our reconciliation with God and we then need to continue in faith that his Holy Spirit will help us live the Christian life.

Who is it, that is Speaking to You?

The Gospel is the good news that calls out to people to come and be reconciled to God through the death, Resurrection and Ministry of Jesus Christ. Those that respond become a part of God's Church. This is not merely a message about Christ, but Christ Himself speaking to us, just as He spoke to the woman at the well. When we realise who it is that is speaking to us, then we too would ask Him for the living water! We are drawn into a true fellowship, not only with other believers, but with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. He stands at the door and knocks, inviting each person who hears His voice to open the door and enter into this deep, personal fellowship with Him.

His final Miracle of Healing

The moments of Jesus' arrest in the garden reveal His divine power and compassionate character. When the soldiers came for Him, they drew back and fell to the ground at His declaration, "I am," a powerful assertion of His being God. In the midst of this turmoil, He also performed His last healing miracle, restoring the ear of Malchus. These events lead appropriately in the presentation of Jesus in complete control, willingly going to the cross to fulfil the scriptures, secure the atonement for our sins, and offer us forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Light Beyond Sight

This world is made up by more than all the principles of education. And there's more than the learning to be done, that is good learning."
